JAN 27th, 2008:
It is official. I will be exhibiting at Green Door Studio on February 8th, 2008 at 6pm til 9pm. Here is the link to the official flyer. It will exhibit a few more pieces not seen before in person, especially a book cover I was working on for an out of town author. It can only been seen in person before it hits publication. It should be pretty cool.
DEC 22nd, 2007:
In 2005, I moved to Burlington from the midwest (long story for some of you who don't know it) and have been learning my way around for some time until I went through some major struggles a year ago which led me to my recent residency in Middlebury. However, despite the struggles, I never wavered from my creative endeavors.
I got to meet interesting people along the way who are into the arts and even involved in the field professionally. Whenever there's an art show up in Burlington, I make it a point to check it out and I've been doing this for years, always looking out for inspiration. As I've learned, one does not gain inspiration from sitting still in your own house and expect things to flow from the mind. It takes more than just a book. More than just watching film.
It takes a pair of feet and getting out there. Like Parzival seeking the grail. And I'm going to spare you all by delving into my medieval dissertation on this and cut to the chase.
And ever since I've been in Middlebury for several months now, exhibitions are being arranged which I am encouraging others to check out. Previously, I was showcased in Frog Hollow in 2005 and then Speeder and Earl's on Church Street, and most recently in Carol's Hungry Mind Cafe a couple of times.
Now, there is an event in Bristol, Vt called the Five Town Massive (www.fivetownmassive.com) and my works will be on display there, for starters. It'll be in Holley Hall on the 26th of December as the party begins at 6pm. It should be pretty cool for those who live nearby the area.
The second showing will be at Green Door Studio which I'm in arrangements with currently for the month of January 2008 which kind of neatly ties in with my birthday (not that I'd like to think about my age). For those who may not be aware of it, Green Door has a website at: www.greendoorstudio.net.
It's right off of Pine Street and Howard, behind Speeder and Earl's and nestled with other studio spaces. The address and location is mentioned on the website. I'm hoping to get that locked in real soon with upcoming confirmation.
And lastly, in the Ides of March of 2008, I'm expected to have an art exhibition/showing at Red Square on Church Street. The date I believe will be on First Friday of March or the week after. I'm hoping on the former. It should be a great show and I'm hoping to have new material by then, perhaps along with current works as a mixture.
Some time after that, Half Lounge on Church Street will host my work. I will keep you all posted on that as it is tentative but a likely prospect. If you never have set foot in there, the size of the nightclub is deceptively small and yet, it is one of the classiest places (in my opinion). It's close enough to be the Bada Bing but otherwise, Tony Soprano would approve of it.
When you have time, feel free to drop by the showings.
From the inner sanctum, I remain.
Enjoy the holidays and a Happy New Year,
-A
